First Name: Etsuko
Last Name: Chang
Gender: Female
Age: 26
Job: None
Appearance:
Personality: Etsuko is a very laid-back woman. She is calm and collected and is confident. But due to the disturbing events of her life, she does not have a good sense of justice, and her will is strengthened by negative actions. She has experienced much, and so is very intelligent. Etsuko is also determined to get whatever revenge she must.
History: Etsuko Chang was born in Nagasaki, where her father's side of the family lived in for a very long time. There, she went to a private school, and belonged to a rich family. She wasn't happy, though, because her rich family were strict, and wanted her to increase their family's pride and restore their honor after word had gotten out that her aunt had killed her son, just because he was in love with a poor girl, and then committed suicide in a shopping mall.
Her father eventually gave up on her when she was ten, because of the past events of his sister and his nephew. It was then that she matured a little more and discovered another different thing between her mother and father: her mother was very strong-willed, whilst her father was weak and was not strong enough to do things on his own, some things that her mother could.
Even though her family had tried to persuade Etsuko that her mother was wrong and poor, she still demanded to meet her. When Etsuko was fourteen years old, a love interest grew between her and a poor boy, but she kept it a secret, because she feared that this would be similar to her aunt and what she did to her son and herself. However, Etsuko Chang's cruel uncle eventually found out about the secretive relationship, and he stalked her boyfriend for weeks without her knowing.
And then, eventually, weeks later; Etsuko's uncle was caught by herself after all three met, her, her uncle and her boyfriend. The uncle murdered the boyfriend in front of his own niece and took her to a derelict factory in secret. This is what he told her after he killed her boyfriend:
"Now, everything is settled," said Etsuko's uncle, the gun in his hand dropping to the concrete ground of the large and empty garage.
Etsuko stood there, staring at the body that was lying there, and it was pretty clear that the bullet in his head had killed him. She gaped in absolute devastation. Then, her uncle narrowed his eyes at her.
"And now, dear Etsuko-San, I must destroy you. Because you have destroyed this family's honor, just like your cousin did," he said, eyes wide.
At the factory, he managed to get its machines operating, and was going to burn Etsuko for punishment. However, it was only when he had burnt a sign into his niece's left hand when she was saved by a man who once worked in the factory. There was a vicious battle between the man and Etsuko's uncle, and the uncle eventually won. However, while they were fighting, Etsuko managed to steal his wallet and gun from a table on which he had placed them upon.
So, she shot her uncle, her father's brother, but to her absolute and utter devastation and awe, his last words told her that he was actually the brother of her mother, and he gave her an address: '440, Jiro Avenue'. And as for the factory man, he informed Etsuko that he'd been watching her for her whole life. She helped his injuries using the knowledge her grandmother taught her, but it was only just enough to sustain several minutes.
To even more shock, he told her that others had been watching her, and that her entire family, as well as others, were being watched. These 'other families' were all intertwined, and so was Etsuko's. He managed to tell her a lot, as well as a deep secret, a very deep one indeed, that involved three sisters who had begun business in a new hotel, which had been divided to suit their needs.
Etsuko fled to the address her uncle had given her using the money from his wallet. It was the only clue she had. And she found that it was a hotel. The teenage girl then returned to Nagasaki, to her family, her hated family, and waited until she was 25. And when she turned 25, she knew it was time to go to the hotel. She knew that she had to be 25 because the man at the factory had told her this.
By the time she was 25, she was also pregnant, as she was forced to marry a rich yet wicked man, a man who was richer than her own family's wealth. She signed a set of divorce papers, but he refused to do so. So she argued it in court. And Etsuko threatened the judge that if she did not do something about it, her family would be in jeopardy. Because Etsuko had chosen this judge, and she'd chosen this judge in particular because her family belonged to one of the many chains of families that were intertwined and were being experimented on.
So, Etsuko's journey began. The journey for answers. And it started with the hotel and its three siblings.
Role Play Sample:
Etsuko exited the taxi and stared up at the tall building. Now what would happen? What would she do from here? Using her family's money, as well as the money of her husband, was something that she was all right with. But for what reasons? To waste it here, in the hotel?
Should she get a job? Etsuko wondered and wondered, and eventually came to a conclusion. She would get a job. Yes, a job with a reasonable wage, and she would make it up the ranks to gain more money. Because that way, she would gain more respect. Respect from the three sisters.
And if she managed to do that, then she could stay in the hotel, perhaps, and live there in a reasonable room. Nothing too nice and all that. Just a room fit for living in. There was nowhere else for her to stay. And with this baby, things would be hard. Everything would be hard.
That's right... the baby...
